and sometimes complex pictorial expressions have been created by those using messaging via text. Sometimes one may come across one they don't understand. Hopefully this chart will help! I plan to update as I find the need. ^^ | |||

This one is hard to explain. It is highly contextual and can mean many things. Hopefully the picture helps, but this one unfortunately must be more learned than can be explained. I'll give a few examples. | similar to the last one but can also be more surprise, distaste, or objection | happy face. It can be used to express a wide range of happiness, and thus can be ambiguous, but it is considered a positive expression. | to the last face except it has a sweat bead on the forehead which can indicate embarrasment, eyerolling, or sarcasm. It is usually more friendly eye rolling or sarcasm than "-.-" |

underneath any indication of eyes is tears. A quotation mark next to the face as a whole is a sweat bead (like in anime).
Another example of this would be the use of the ">". This can be added to a happy face to show vigor, like so ">:D"
The key is to learn to look at the text pictorially. Symbols don't always mean the same thing. This is one of the things Hopefully this was helpful, and I'll try to add more as I think of them or come across them. Thanks for reading! |
